Dear LHA Family and Friends,
Cambodian Flood has taken at least 104 lives, 15,893 families and 73,108 individuals seriously affected, and damaged at least 500 million US dollar.
As a result of heavy rains since the 3rd week of September thousands of families around the country have been seriously affected. The continuous rains in neighbouring countries have caused repeated flash floods in some provinces including Siem Reap.
Access to some communities is difficult and in some instances can only be done by boat. Other problems related to the flooding are loss of safe living space, no access to clean drinking water, no access to sanitation facilities, risk of disease outbreaks, loss of farming land, especially rice growing and the danger related to the shifting of land-mines still hidden beneath much of Cambodian water logged soil.
Of course at times of disaster it is the most vulnerable members of the communities who are at risk such as single mothers caring for the household, children and the elderly.
Although every day, I know many lives are changing through our works at Life and Hope Association (LHA), but these days lately it has been so hard for me particularly to concentrate only on LHA’s priorities while ignoring the flood victims.
To fulfil our souls’ hunger of being service to others, we, the Life and Hope Association’s families, the monks of Wat Damnak, would like to ask you to share again your compassionate hearts with those flood victims. Any help is more than welcome andit will make a huge difference. Anything you donate will mean a lot to them.
Estimated cost for per family is $30, including 30 kg of rice, soy source, soy fish, salt, and other necessities for health/hygiene.
If you wish to be part of our emergency mission for those victims in dire needs, kindly make a direct donation to us in LHA’s name or: Somnieng Hoeurn (monk), position: executive director.
